How Do You Prepare for a Fishing Trip in Puerto Rico?
- Blue marlin peaks June–October. Mahi-mahi is available year-round. Yellowfin tuna are most common in winter. Ask your captain about what's biting when you book.
- Early morning departures (5–6 AM) give you the best fishing conditions. Fish are most active at dawn and in the early morning hours.
- Puerto Rico's sun is intense on the open water. Bring reef-safe sunscreen (SPF 50+), a long-sleeve fishing shirt, a hat, and polarized sunglasses.
- If you're prone to motion sickness, take medication the night before and morning of. Offshore waters can be choppy. Ginger tablets and wristbands also help.
- No fishing license is needed when fishing on a licensed charter boat. The captain's commercial fishing license covers all passengers.
- We provide coolers and ice for your catch. Bring a separate cooler if you want to bring your own drinks and snacks.
