Boat excursions in Puerto Rico run year-round from Puerto del Rey Marina in Fajardo to the island's best beaches and snorkeling reefs — Culebra, Icacos, Vieques, and Cayo Santiago. A private excursion gives you control of the itinerary, vessel, music, and pace. Capacity ranges from intimate groups of 4 to large parties up to 40 guests.

If you're searching for boat excursions in Puerto Rico, the most flexible option is a private charter rather than a shared group tour. With 17 active vessels in our fleet, we match your group to the right boat — sailing catamaran, motor yacht, sport-fishing boat, or speedboat — and tailor the excursion to what you actually want to see. Browse our charter fleet or jump straight to the pricing guide.
Five reasons private excursions outperform shared group tours on every dimension that matters.
You choose the destinations, anchorage stops, lunch timing, and return time. Shared tours run a fixed itinerary regardless of your group's preferences.
No strangers on board. Compare to shared 'booze cruises' or group snorkel tours that pack 40–80 strangers onto the same vessel.
From speedboats for small groups to catamarans for parties of 40. Match the vessel to your group, not the other way around.
Combine Icacos and Palomino. Or Culebra and Carlos Rosario. Or Vieques and a bioluminescent bay tour. Private excursions can stitch together what shared tours can't.
Reschedule with the captain if conditions shift. Adjust departure time to align with your group's arrival. Stay later if everyone's having a great time.
Four core excursion formats cover most charter trips.
4–5 hours
Shortest trip — typically to Icacos Island or Palomino. Best for first-time charter guests, families with young kids, or groups with limited time. Custom-quoted by vessel.
6–8 hours
The most popular excursion format. Reach Culebra, Vieques, or a combined east-coast snorkel itinerary. Lunch at anchor, multiple stops, and a sunset return.
2–3 hours
Evening cruise from Fajardo. Golden-hour views, calm seas, and a relaxing pace. Great for couples, small groups, and special occasions.
2+ nights
Overnight charter hopping Culebra, Vieques, and the Spanish Virgin Islands. Available on yachts with sleeping accommodation. Includes the most remote and untouched anchorages.
Most excursions run east-coast itineraries; advanced multi-day trips reach more remote destinations.
World-class Flamenco Beach plus Carlos Rosario reef snorkeling. 60–90 minutes from Fajardo. The most popular full-day excursion destination.
La Cordillera Nature Reserve, shallow turquoise water, white-sand beach. 20 minutes from Fajardo. Most popular half-day excursion destination.
Bioluminescent Bay (Mosquito Bay) — the brightest in the world per Guinness World Records. 90 minutes from Fajardo. Day-trip and overnight options.
Wildlife viewing from the boat (no landings allowed). 45 minutes from Fajardo. Pairs naturally with Icacos for a full-day combo.
Off Ponce on the south coast — quieter, less touristed. Reachable by special charter from the west coast or multi-day round-island trip.
41 nautical miles west — the Galápagos of the Caribbean. 2–4 day expedition only, with DRNA permits required. See our Isla de Mona hub.
Send us your group size, dates, and destination preference — we'll match you to the right vessel.
Four steps from request to charter day.
Dates, group size, destination preference, vessel preference (or let us recommend), and any special needs. We use this to match vessels and quote.
Each vessel is priced for the full boat, with captain, crew, fuel, ice, water, and basic snorkel gear included.
Deposit holds the vessel. We finalize itinerary, departure time, meeting point, and any add-ons (catering, open bar, water toys).
Arrive 15 minutes before departure at Puerto del Rey Marina, Fajardo. Captain runs a safety briefing — then the day is yours.
All excursions are custom-quoted per vessel and itinerary. Per-vessel pricing (not per-person) — splitting across your group keeps the per-person cost reasonable for groups of 6 or more.
Sailing catamarans and small speedboats are the lowest tier; motor yachts and luxury sport-fishing vessels are the highest. Each vessel is priced individually.
Sunset excursions are the lowest; full-day excursions scale higher; multi-day expeditions are higher per night but lower per hour.
Culebra and Vieques trips burn more fuel than Icacos or La Cordillera. Fuel is line-itemized based on planned distance.
Open bar, catering, DJ, water toys (paddleboards, kayaks, snorkel masks). All optional, all priced separately.
Private boat excursions in Puerto Rico are custom-quoted per vessel and itinerary — there is no fixed price. Each vessel is priced for the full boat (not per person) with captain, crew, fuel, ice, water, and basic snorkel gear included. Contact us for a quote based on your group size, dates, and preferred destination.
Most excursions depart from Puerto del Rey Marina in Fajardo on Puerto Rico's east coast — about a 1-hour drive from San Juan. Fajardo is the closest port to Culebra, Icacos, Vieques, and Cayo Santiago. Free parking, restrooms, and provisioning at the marina.
It depends on your priorities. For first-time visitors with limited time, a half-day Icacos excursion is the most popular choice. For a full beach-and-snorkel day, a full-day Culebra excursion is hard to beat. For couples and special occasions, a sunset cruise from Fajardo. For serious nature and remote experiences, a multi-day Vieques or Isla de Mona expedition.
April through June offers the calmest seas, warmest water, and lowest rain probability. November through early December is the second-best window. Hurricane season runs August through October with day-by-day weather decisions. Winter trade winds (December–March) can make crossings to Culebra and Vieques bumpier.
Our charter fleet accommodates 1 to 40 guests depending on the vessel. Small speedboats hold 6–10; mid-size catamarans and sport-fishing boats hold 12–20; large yachts and party catamarans hold up to 40. For groups larger than 40, we can pair two vessels.
Yes — catamarans are the most popular vessel type for families with kids. Wide stable decks reduce seasickness, low swim platforms make in-and-out of the water easy, and shallow-water destinations like Icacos are ideal for first-time young swimmers. USCG-approved child-sized life jackets are provided on every charter.
All of our captains speak fluent English; most are bilingual Spanish/English. Spanish-speaking guests are fully accommodated — itinerary, safety briefings, and onboard service are available in either language.
Yes — most charters are BYOB for beer, wine, and spirits. The vessel provides ice, water, soft drinks, and coolers. For food, you can bring your own or add catering as an upgrade. Specify your preference when requesting a quote.
Tell us your group size, preferred dates, and destination — we'll match you to the right vessel and send a custom quote within 24 hours.
